The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN)
Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is a platform of programs and initiatives aimed at creating a global entrepreneurial ecosystem. GEN helps people in 160 countries turn their ideas into promising new ventures - creating jobs, accelerating innovation and strengthening economic stability around the world. One of these programs is the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) to which the city of Split joins, organized by the Student Business Incubator (SPI) of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism in Split
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW)
Global Entrepreneurship Week is an event that takes place once a year around the world and serves to celebrate entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creators who launch startups and implement ideas into reality, promoting economic growth and the broader well-being of their community. For one week in November each year, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national, and global activities to explore their potential as entrepreneurs and innovators.
These activities, from large competitions and events to networking, connect participants with potential collaborators, mentors, and potential investors - introducing them to new possibilities and opportunities.
Thousands of new startups emerged from bootcamps organized during GEW. Hundreds of universities have strengthened their collaborations that help them commercialize their scientific research. Researchers and politicians around the world are engaging in debates to examine and improve the fundamental policies needed to promote entrepreneurial growth. Many serial entrepreneurs get involved in GEW by sharing their knowledge and holding hands-on training sessions. Also, world leaders and local elected officials alike have embraced this global campaign to encourage economic growth and startup development in their countries and communities.
GEW is more than just an entrepreneurship awareness campaign. It is a platform to connect and collaborate - engaging all players along the entrepreneurial spectrum in strengthening ecosystems around the world.
GEW has so far spread to over 160 countries around the world and will be held this year on November 14-20, 2022
