As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2019 , 23. and on November 24, the Smart City Challenge hackathon took place in Split – a marathon competition where competitors developed models and prototypes of products or services in 24 hours to improve the quality of life in our city, under the auspices of the Split-Dalmatia County and the City of Split .
The hackathon was attended by multidisciplinary teams, who had the opportunity to develop a solution within one of the following categories: Internet of Things (Iot), smart homes and buildings, smart transportation, smart production, smart environment, smart health.
The winners of this year’s hackathon are the eAgrar team with an innovative approach to the development of irrigation systems, the second place was won by the Ontime team, which offered a solution to traffic problems in the city of Split, and the third place was won by the Gotobot team, which developed a chatbot for the university. The aforementioned teams shared a prize fund of HRK 20,000 and secured the support of the Student Business Incubator in the further development of the projects.
It is important to emphasize that the Smart City Challenge program was developed in cooperation with the project UIP – 2017 – 05 -7625 : User-oriented (re)design of processes and modeling of information systems on the example of smart city services , which was financed by the Croatian Science Foundation.
The organizers of the competition are the Student Entrepreneurial Incubator of the Faculty of Economics in Split, the association of information technology developers UPIT and the company Lil Code Lab . The competition took place in the premises of the company Locastic , which has been supporting the organization in this way for years.
