On November 18th, a ceremonial opening of the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator project took place at the Faculty of Economics in Split. The project is designed for all proactive and entrepreneurial students at the University of Split, with the aim of promoting youth entrepreneurship and increasing the success of entrepreneurial ventures in the Split-Dalmatia County. It also addresses the problem of high youth unemployment, as well as the lack of information and/or opportunities for self-employment among young people.
The Student Entrepreneurship Incubator was conceived after five successful generations of the Entrepreneurial Academy of the Faculty of Economics. This six-week program for university students provides education on entrepreneurship and hands-on experience with ideas, introducing young people to the business world and teaching them how to create a successful business plan. The Faculty of Economics in Split initiated the idea for the Incubator to provide students with the opportunity to develop their business models throughout the academic year, not just during the Entrepreneurial Academy program.
The target groups are students and graduates, some of whom already have defined entrepreneurial ideas. The young individuals will have a technically equipped workspace at the Faculty of Economics where they can develop their projects. In addition to working independently, they will have the opportunity to share ideas with other entrepreneurial colleagues in the Incubator and work in teams. Besides the coworking space, the Incubator will provide students with various training sessions and workshops, offering insights into the process of realizing entrepreneurial ideas and assistance in marketing, finance, and management.
The total project value is 302,450.00 HRK, with funding from the European Union through the European Social Fund under the Operational Program Human Resources Development 2007-2013, amounting to 288,047.61 HRK.
