For the fifth year already, the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator at the Faculty of Economics in Split has successfully navigated these restless and existentially uncertain seas, preparing young generations of entrepreneurs for their step into the real world of entrepreneurship and all the challenges that await them in turning their entrepreneurial ideas into real business entities ready for growth and development . Although the COVID-19 epidemic forced us all to transfer all activities from the real world to the virtual one, we still successfully brought to an end another education program in entrepreneurship for young people of the University of Split. The Student Business Incubator program was successfully completed by 5 startup teams with diverse and above all interesting business ideas.
SPI Demo Day 2020. we held 1. July starting at 18:00 in The Works coworking space, respecting all prescribed epidemiological measures. The gathered teams and members of the expert jury were addressed by Lana Ugrčić, head of the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator and on behalf of the Faculty of Economics, assistant professor. Ph.D. Ljiljana Najev Čačija, mentor and co-worker in the Student Entrepreneurial Incubator, during which we reviewed everything that our participants went through in this stormy and challenging academic year. The jury that closely followed the presentations of our participants consisted of Josip Marasović, director of Saliboat RC, co-owners of Locastic Marko Miljković and Antonio Perić, and the president of the Croatian Association of Employers, Mrs. Vesna Ivić-Šimetin.
The teams that successfully completed the training program are GoToBot, IntelliShell, Pet Match, Home Edit&Buy and Liberato.
Startup GoToBot noticed that hoteliers and accommodation service providers need innovations to attract guests to their accommodation facilities, and they designed a chat bot for accommodation facilities that facilitates business and communication with guests. It is an automated service based on artificial intelligence, which communicates in several languages. Behind this startup are Tomas Pinjušić, Karlo Topić, Dominik Metličić and Mia Crnjac.
Then came the startup Home Edit&Buy , which presented a solution for the personalized sale of apartments in new construction. It is a web and mobile solution in which buyers of apartments in new construction can, in addition to the basic appearance and price, modify certain components of the apartment and thus completely adapt it to their wishes. The solution is primarily intended for construction companies that invest in the construction of residential buildings, which would improve the sale of apartments. Karlo Pahert, Anđela Beroš and Nikša Orlandič are behind this idea.
Startup IntelliShell presented an innovative shellfish farming system with the aim of reducing losses in yield and pollution of shellfish with heavy metals. It is a closed system that filters heavy metals and prevents the entry of potential enemies, while monitoring conditions for cultivation, which accelerates the production cycle, increases production capacity and income of growers. In addition, this solution offers the potential of growing more economically valuable aquacultures. The idea was conceived by Matteo Hajder, Manojlo Ilić, Loris Mihić and Mario Palić.
The project of the Liberato association was presented by Stipo Margić, Mijo Matijević and Lucijano Žaja, and it is an online platform that gives people with physical disabilities an idea and insight into locations where they may encounter architectural obstacles. Liberato combines the love for programming and the social aspect on his own example of disability. The platform is networked via GPS with locations where architectural obstacles are located.
The last startup to present itself is Pet Match , a mobile application for current and future owners of pets, primarily dogs. The application makes it possible to find a person to walk or take care of a pet, then it enables the socialization of a group of dogs. At the same time, it is possible to adopt dogs from shelters through the application, find the nearest veterinarians, stores with pet supplies or pet salons. The idea was conceived by Nina Novak, Ana Miljak, Ivan Magaš and Marko Milas.
We hereby congratulate the winning GoToBot team and wish everyone good luck in their further work and development!
